The National Registration and Accreditation Scheme requires that information about every registered health practitioner in Australia is published on a single national register of practitioners.
Ahpra believes in the importance of public reporting of our data. This reporting ensures greater accountability and transparency on matters of public importance and is one of the mechanisms to encourage us, as an organisation, to continuously improve our performance.
From April 2016, in addition to our annual report and the state, territory and professional summaries, for the first time we are now publishing quarterly performance reports.
These reports provide information for the public on the activities and performance of Ahpra and the National Boards in each state and territory. They contain data on a particular state or territory over a three month period and cover our main areas of activity – managing registration, managing notifications and offences against the National Law, and monitoring health practitioners and students with restrictions on their registration. (These reports are on the performance of Ahpra and the National Boards and, therefore, do not include notification data for NSW. In NSW, notifications are managed by the relevant Health Professional Council and the Health Care Complaints Commission).

Under the co-regulatory system in Queensland in place since July 2014, AHPRA provides quarterly data about its performance in managing complaints to the Office of the Health Ombudsman (OHO). These data provide quantitative information about the number of complaints received and timelines for managing them.
The National Boards publish quarterly data profiling Australia’s health practitioner workforce, including a number of statistical breakdowns about registrants. To view the data, click on the links below.
Where a data request is made to Ahpra, and the data may be of benefit to a broader audience than the requestor, Ahpra may make that data available on its website below. Data is only published here if there are no confidentiality restrictions and no cost was incurred by the original requestor for the provision of the data.
