Under the National Law, the Boards and AHPRA work in partnership to implement the National Scheme, each with specific roles, powers and responsibilities set down in the National Law.
The guiding principles of the National Law require the National Scheme to operate in a ‘transparent, accountable, efficient, effective and fair way’; and for registration fees to be reasonable ‘…having regard to the efficient and effective operation of the scheme’.
Each year each of the National Boards and AHPRA publish a health profession agreement that details the fees payable by health practitioners, the annual budget of the National Board and the services provided by AHPRA that enable the National Boards to carry out their functions under the National Law.
In 2016, all National Boards agreed to the expansion of the HPA to a four-year agreement to reflect the life of the National Scheme strategy, 2015-20. With a four-year head agreement, annual updates to the schedules will be added to the HPA for each National Board up to and including the 2019/20 financial year. Schedules for previous financial years can be found on the schedule archive below.
