About Ahpra and the National Boards

Our primary role is to protect the public. The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and the National Boards work together to ensure that Australia’s registered health practitioners are suitably trained, qualified and safe to practise.

About the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme

The National Scheme operates Australia-wide to regulate individual health practitioners. It is a vital part of the Australian health system. The scheme is governed by a nationally consistent law passed by each state and territory parliament – the National Law.
