Does a health practitioner’s registration expire?

  • Practitioners must apply to renew their registration annually. They are able to continue practising while their registration is assessed. Practitioners remain registered for one month after their registration expiry date. If they apply to renew their registration during this period, they are required to pay a late fee and are able to continue to practise while their application is being assessed.

    • Nurses and midwives are due to renew their registration by 31 May every year.
    • Most medical practitioners are due to renew their registration by 30 September every year.
    • Other health practitioners are due to renew their registration by 30 November every year.
