Ahpra is seeking applications from suitably qualified Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples for appointment to the Ahpra Board’s Accreditation Committee (the Committee).
The Committee is responsible for providing independent and expert advice on accreditation reform and other National Scheme accreditation matters to National Scheme entities (National Boards, Accreditation Authorities and Ahpra) and other external entities performing accreditation functions as part of the National Scheme.
Ahpra’s role is to protect the public by setting standards and policies that all registered health practitioners must meet.
Cultural safety in the National Law is part of those standards, providing an agreed definition in the codes of conduct for registered health practitioners.
Ahpra and the National Boards ensure the development of a racism free, culturally safe and respectful health workforce for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples accessing and working in healthcare.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples ways of being, knowing and doing are central to dismantling all forms of racism, systemic, institutional, and interpersonal in healthcare.
Ahpra and the National Boards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Anti-Racism Policy is a significant milestone in enacting our policy and legislative commitment to eliminating racism and ensuring culturally safe workplaces and healthcare. This policy has been developed by and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to create a safe, valued, and respectful environment within Ahpra and the National Boards.
