Update on the review of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme

13 Mar 2015

The Ministerial Council will consider the final report from the independent review of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme at their April 2015 meeting.

The independent review of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for health professions commenced in April 2014 following the release of the terms of reference (24 KB, DOCX) by the Australian Health Workforce Ministerial Council (Ministerial Council). The public consultation paper was released in August 2014 by the Independent Reviewer, Mr Kim Snowball, followed closely by a series of public consultations forums held around the Country. AHPRA and National Boards actively participated in the review process and made a joint submission in response to the public consultation paper.

Mr Snowball submitted his final report to the Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council at the end of December 2014 in accordance with the approved project plan.

An update around the review was received on 10 March 2015 advising the final report will be considered by the Ministerial Council at their April 2015 meeting. Visit the COAG Health Council website to access a copy of the final bulletin regarding the completion of the Review.

We look forward to reading the final report and will work with governments to implement any decisions of the Ministerial Council.
