AHPRA was formed by an Act of Parliament and is bound by the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (2009) (The National Law) as in force in each State and Territory and its Regulations.

AHPRA has developed Legal Practice Notes to support the consistent interpretation of the National Law. They relate to a range of operational issues and are intended to advise panels, National Boards and AHPRA staff.
