Students who are in their final year of study to become a health practitioner should apply for registration online now.
Students due to complete approved programs of study at the end of 2017 are invited to apply for registration online four to six weeks before finishing their course.
The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) online graduate application helps to smooth the path from study to work by enabling students to apply for registration before they graduate.
Applicants apply online by setting up an account with AHPRA with a unique and personal email address only they have access to. This allows for progress on the form to be saved and resumed as required.
Applicants then complete the application form, upload their supporting documents and pay the registration fee.
AHPRA assesses the application which can only be finalised once the education provider provides advice that the student is eligible to graduate. Applicants are contacted if more information is needed and/or to confirm that registration has been granted.
New graduates registered with their profession’s National Board are eligible to start work as soon as their name is published on the national register of practitioners.
Students are encouraged to read the information under Graduate applications, including FAQ and the PowerPoint: ‘Health practitioner registration - What you need to know’.
More information for graduates, including profession-specific news items and FAQ, is available on National Board websites: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia Chinese Medicine Board of Australia Chiropractic Board of Australia Dental Board of Australia Medical Board of Australia Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Occupational Therapy Board of Australia Optometry Board of Australia Osteopathy Board of Australia Pharmacy Board of Australia Physiotherapy Board of Australia Podiatry Board of Australia Psychology Board of Australia
